Adopting
There are times when married couples have problems that they are not able to continue their bloodline genetically. That no matter what voodoo and medicine the local witch doctor gives them they still won’t have any child. Sometimes when one of the couples has a low sperm count or if the woman has got problems with her eggs, then reproduction is hard or impossible. Now due to the wonders of medical science, there are now ways to still continue the bloodline of one of the parents.
There was one episode in the popular sitcom FRIENDS, where the married couple Chandler and Monica realized that they would not be able to have kids. This is because the guy has got problems with his sperm. So they decided to try one of science medical wonders where they get another guy’s sperm be inserted into the female to get her pregnant. In the end they realized that it seemed wrong and it was best for them to just go for adoption.
Adoption is the legal process that will make a child that has been placed on a foster home or for adoption be given to someone who is looking for kids. The famous actress Angelina Jolie has been adopting kids from less fortunate people from other countries to help them be raised properly. Those two are mostly the scenarios when people adopt, they help out others or they can’t have kid of their own.
There is such a thing as an open adoption. It is an agreement that both the adoptive and the birth family will keep in touch. These will be a very great kind of adoption, as the real birth parents will still also be able to monitor their child far from afar. This situation may be hard for the birth parents to see their child grow to have better future but not with them. Sometimes when a parent gets involved in choosing the right foster parent for their child, it could be the best parting gift they could ever give.
Sometimes a displacement ceremony is also made between the foster parents and the birth parents. The displacement ceremony is a time for the real parent to take pictures of their baby and get to meet and know more about the foster parents. It is also during this ceremony that agreements are made to send letters and pictures of the child.
For the foster parent’s part, there are certain requirements and limitations for them as well. So that the foster care may know that the foster parents are not that abusive. It is a very lengthy process for the foster parents; it includes tons of paper work. The paper they say is just the same as the 9 month labor period without the actual pain of giving birth. They also attend lots of group meetings and interviews so that the agency can make sure that they are ready for adoption. Adopting a baby is not as easy as buying a dog. If you’re very unlucky you might get one that’s like the kid from Problem Child the Movie.
Once all the details and paperwork have been completed, the child that you are now holding officially becomes your child. Adopting a child may not be that different from having your own child, both situations will give you all the headaches and joys that a child provides you with. If you’re even lucky the foster agency may even provide an insurance child when there is a problem (Just kidding). All kids whether they be real or adopted deserve equal love from their parents. Giving them the right respect and love will make them grow up properly.
