Credit Repair: Self Help or Need Help?
If you’ve got bad credit, you will find that there are a lot of things that won’t go your way. To ensure yourself of a life of relative ease and comfort, it’s utterly necessary for you to consider credit repair.
Credit repair can be achieved in two ways: you can either do it yourself or have someone do it for you. We shall discuss both alternatives in the following paragraphs.
Credit Repair – I can!
There are some people who are in the opinion that what credit repair companies can do for you, you can do for yourself. The truth behind this statement depends, however, on a case to case basis.
Certainly, credit repair may and have been achieved by consumers solely through their own efforts but the question is, can YOU do it for yourself too?
Consider the tasks before you: In the process of credit repair, you first need to request for a personal copy of all the credit reports made about you. Upon receipt of said reports, you must then check each and every item for inconsistency or mistakes. Each erroneous item must then be disputed and re-checked by the agency responsible for the credit report. Next, you have to set up talks with your bank managers and other creditors to renegotiate the terms of your existing debts. Lastly, you must come up with a financial plan that shall enable you to become debt free in the soonest time possible and improve your credit rating in the process.
Not a piece of cake, isn’t it? Well, if you still feel that you’d like to do everything by your lonesome but you’re not averse to a little outside help, you might like to consider purchasing a credit repair kit. This usually comes in form of a step by step program that would guide you in your credit repair journey.
Credit Repair – I’m lost!
So you’ve learned what you have to do and you know you’re not up to the tasks involved. That’s alright. We are not born with the same strengths and weaknesses, after all. Once again, you have two options to choose from: you can join a credit counseling program or use the services of a credit repair company.
A credit counseling program works exactly how you think it would: by offering advice. The services offered by credit repair companies however are more extensive. It shall act as mediator before you and your creditors, help you dispute erroneous items in your report and generally do whatever it is that you can’t do yourself.
